Djibouti (jee-BOO-tee), officially the Republic of Djibouti, is a country located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea in the north, Ethiopia in the west and south, and Somalia in the southeast. The remainder of the border is formed by the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden at the east.
Djibouti's climate ranges from arid in the northeastern coastal regions to semiarid in the central, northern, western and southern parts of the country.
Forest accounts for less than one percent of the total area of the country. Most of Djibouti is part of the Ethiopian xeric grasslands and shrublands ecoregion. Th harsh conditions (hot and dry) are not supportive of many Saturniidae species.
