The Zambezi River forms a natural riverine boundary with Zambia. In full flood (February-April) the massive Victoria Falls forms the world's largest curtain of falling water.
The climate is tropical, moderated by altitude, and the rainy season runs from November to March.
Recurring droughts, deforestation, soil erosion and land degradation pose serious problems for the people of Zimbabwe. Recurring boundary disputes occasionally flare with neighbouring countries.
On May 16, 2004, Rolf Oberprieler sent me a checklist for Zimbabwe. Rolf favours listing Cirina forda with the Imbrasia genus and he indicates Gynanisa murphyi may be the same as Gyananisa ata and that Gynanisa nigra is just a dark form of Gynanisa maja.
