The Adafroptilum belong to the Micragonini, Cockerell in Packard, 1914 (1902)

The Adafroptilum differ from the Orthogonioptilum with regard to certain stuctures and male genitalia. The antennae of males of this genus are quadripectinate for the basal 4/5 while the antennae of the males of Orthogonioptilum are quadripectinate for the basal 2/3. The Adafroptilum male forewings also tend to be not nearly as falcate and have three to five small hyaline spots.
