Pseudaphelia belong to the Urotini tribe of the subfamily Saturniinae; moths in this tribe are found in Africa.
Larvae, developing to 4.5cm., are semi-gregarious in all instars.
Pseudaphelia apollinaris larvae develop extremely rapidly and are aposematically coloured suggesting they are unpalatable.
