DISTRIBUTION:

Cinabra bracteata, the Pale Banded Emperor (forewing length: 43-55mm), flies in Africa, from Angola to Kenya. It is uncommon but widespread in Zimbabwe. Robert Minetti reports it in Zambia.

It was originally described from Transvaal in South Africa.

In males of this species the thorax and forewing are yellow or orange-yellow, and the hindwing is bright yellow. The species is sometimes confused with lighter specimens of C. hyperbius.

Current thinking is this may be just a form of C. hyperbius rather than a distinct species.
