DISTRIBUTION:

Goodia (Campioptilum) hollandi inhabits Yaru, possibly?? in Ethiopia and/or Sudan.

The Natural History Museum lists it from Voi in southern Kenya and from Tanganyika in Tanzania as a form of kuntzei, and also indicates the more northeasterly locations above where they indicate it is a synonym of smithi.

Thierry Bouyer confirms it flies in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. Thierry regards it as a good species and indicates boulardi Rougeot, 1974, is a synonym.

More recently, however, (2008) BOLD Systems and Philippe Darge treat boulardi as a valid species.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Goodia hollandi larvae probably feed upon Afromomum and Amomum and upon plants from the following families: Sterculiaceae, Vitaceae and Zingiberaceae.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females probably fly early at night with males on the wing around midnight, the calling time of females. Both sexes come in to lights.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Eggs are deposited in small groups of 4-12 on twigs or hostplant leaves. Larvae are solitary feeders.

Larvae descend the foodplant at pupation time and construct a flimsy cocoon in debris at the base of the hostplant.
