Orthogonioptilum crystallinum male, All Leps Barcode of Life.
TAXONOMY:Superfamily: Bombycoidea Latreille, 1802 |
"Moon River" |
The forewing is fairly falcate, and the outer margin is less convex than in neoprox, but the anal angle is more acute.
The body and ground colour of the upper wing surface is somewhat dark, most often olive-brown. The transverse line is well marked. On the forewing there is one larger and one smaller "point of light"; on the hindwing there is one larger point of light below two smaller ones.
This is a forest species in the prox group and sometimes examination of genitalia is needed to distinguish it from neoprox.

Orthogonioptilum crystallinum larval hosts are unknown.
