DISTRIBUTION:

Orthogonioptilum dargei (wingspan: males: 49-54mm; females: 68mm) flies in
western Gabon: Estuaire: Yeno (100m), Ekouk (near Bokoue); Ogooue-Maritime.

Thierry Bouyer includes it in
Cameroon without precise location, but I suspect it would be in
southwestern Cameroon and
Equatorial Guinea.

The male forewing is elongated, fairly falcate, and the apex is rounded. The ground colour is a unique bright tawny-brown with rose to rose-lilac tints.

The median line is vestigial to absent, but the other lines are black and well marked although thin/fine.

There are three or four points of light on the forewing and two on the hindwing.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
