DISTRIBUTION:

Orthogonioptilum herbuloti (wingspan: males: 54-59mm; females: 67-70mm) flies in
northern Cameroon: Sanguere (Nord) and Ngaoundere (Adamoua).

It is also reported in
Burkina Faso, I suspect it also flies in Benin and Nigeria.

The male forewing is slightly falcate and the apex is slightly pronounced and slightly pointed. Hyaline spots are greatly reduced, especially on the forewing. The ground colour is grey-brown.

The female forewing outer margin is very convex. Her wings are wide and the apex area is elongated slightly and pointed. There is a small island near the center of the large hyaline spot on both the fore and hind wings. One or two smaller transparent spots surround the larger area. Ground colour is also grey-brown.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth flies in January and October with a possible brood May-June.
