DISTRIBUTION:
Orthogonioptilum hodeberti
(wingspan: males: 55-60mm; females: larger) flies in Cameroon:
Goyoum, Banda and probably further south and east.
Thierry Bouyer equates this moth with
O. fontainei.
Orthogonioptilum hodeberti male, Bold
The male forewing is very falcate and the outer margin is very concave.
Ground colour is olive-grey. Hyaline areas are reduced, but the lower area
is shaped as a thick "V" with smaller spots above.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
This moth flies
in February and September with a possible brood May-June.
Orthogonioptilum hodeberti larval hosts are unknown.

Thierry Bouyer indicates this species is more falcate
than O. luminosum, and it is darker/browner in colouration with a
supplemental post discal arc. The genitalia are quite different.

The genus name Orthogonioptilum refers to
the nearly right angle at the anal angle of the forewing.
The species name 'hodeberti' is honourific for Hodebert.
