In July 2012 Philippe Darge described two new very similar species in the paveci group.
Orthogonioptilum neglectum has less pale grey suffusion in the pm area of all wings, compared to paveci. In paveci the pale grey seems to mask a brighter yellow-beige, which in O. neglectum seems to shine through, giving neglectum a more contrasting appearance with brighter areas and darker brown areas, particularly in the hindwing pm areas of neglectum.
