This species is listed by Bouyer as an Orthogonioptilum species, but not by Darge who lists it as Afroptilum septiguttata. The correct genus name may be Adafroptilum.
The general colour of the body and wings is a dark grey-brown. The transverse line is well marked with a few brighter reddish areas.
The forewing pm line has seven or eight darker extensions toward the outer margin. There are three small "points of light" in a line with a fourth very small point toward the body.
The hindwing is of uniform colouration with a vetigial transverse line and a better defined pm line, highlighted internally with some brownish-red scaling. There are two-three points of light, the lower/lowest one being a bit larger.
Adafroptilum septiguttata larval hosts are unknown.
