Jerome Teva Paire

Jerome Teva Paire of France, is currently (November-December 2006) stationed near Rabi (Ogooue-Maritime Province), Gabon.

Jerome writes, "I'm currently working in the jungle of Gabon (for Shell - Sorry!)."

Jerome sent me a plate of eight different Saturniidae that he captured one morning, November 19, and adds, "All shots are taken 26km away from so-called Rabi. Coordinates: 01 deg 48' 16" South; 09 deg 54" 37" East.

"I'm also glad you put a name on all species. This is utterly very appreciated; in fact, I'm NOT a specialist of these heteroceras (I'm 100% focused on the 'Delias' genus - Pieridae - I'm sure you've heard of them). Having said that, my 'normal' assignment is in Angola, in Soyo (north-west), at the Delta River of Zaire. I'll send you some news shots from there, if you're interested...

"Sure, I'll send you the same shots in 'better' quality, even if I just got a Sony T3 - not a professional camera ;o)) Some pictures are blurry, I'm doing my best with what I got in store...

"As you say, these shots have been taken between 6:15AM and 6:45AM yesterday, within the base camp. All on the white walls of our unit/containers, or on the floor. Simply unbelievable, even for me who get used to it... The prospect sounds endless!"

Some of the nicer spcimens Jerome sent in the first round of submissions are posted below.

I'm looking forward to receiving many more images from Jerome, and am especially looking forward to seeing what he can send from Angola.

Hope to have the unknown Lobobunaea and Orthogonioptilum species identified soon.
