DISTRIBUTION:

Actias guangxiana (wingspan: males: 88mm; females: mm // Mfwl: 54-56; Ffwl: ) flies in
China: Guangxi: Dayao Shan: Jinxiu; at elevations near 1200m.

This species is very similar to Actias angulocaudata and belongs in the Actias sinensis Group:
Actias sinensis sinensis China, including Guanxi, probably several other neighbouring countries in southeast Asia;
Actias sinensis subaurea Taiwan;
Actias laotiana Laos;
Actias angulocaudata China: Hubei;
Actias australovietnama southern Vietnam;
actias parasinensis Bhutan, India, Tibet (China), possibly northern Thailand and northern Vietnam (more likely sinensis in last two countries);
Actias guangxiana China: Guangxi.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Actias guangxiana probably broods continuously and the preferred larval foodplant is probably Rhododendron. Thus far the only confirmed records are for July.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
