DISTRIBUTION:

Attacus lorquinii (forewing length: males: 90-116mm; females: 78-116mm) flies in
the Phillipines: Cebu, Guimaras, Luzon, Marinduque, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, Panay, Polillo and Samar.

The hyaline areas of the females are much larger than those of the males.

The forewing apex has a large patch of purplish blue just above the dash. There are never accessorary fenestrae. Those present are triangular, strongly outlined in black, and they touch the white (often reduced) of the pm lines.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This species broods continuously and moths have been taken in all months.

Larvae feed upon guava and lilac. Alan Marson has had good success with them on privet.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae have the red-pink areas on claspers typical of Attacus species as well as the basic ground colour of white-powdered green with fleshy protuberances.
