DISTRIBUTON:

The Actias philippinica bulbosa moth flies in lowland forests of Palawan in the Philippines. It is found only in Palawan to date.

It is named after the distinctive bulbous knot of the cephal end of the saccus in the male genitalia.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Actias philippinica bulbosa broods continuously and larvae are polyphagous.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males which are active from 9:30 pm until 11:00 pm.

Females, which come in to lights, are usually active from 9:00 until 10:30 pm.
