DISTRIBUTION: Actias brevijuxta brevijuxta (wingspan approx: 128-160-175?? mm) flies in in the vicinity of N-Luzon; Ifugao Banaue, 20 km N Lagawe in the Philippines. The forewing tips of the male are quite produced and pointed. Actias selene brevijuxta, male, courtesy of Jiri Zabokrtsky.

This moth was elevated to full species status by Brechlin & Meister, 2012, from a subspecies of A. selene.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Actias brevijuxta brevijuxta probably broods continuously with the first flight in February, and larvae are polyphagous. Kelly Price sends image below of a male (wingspan: 128mm) taken in August in Mindoro-South Luzon, Philippines.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males which are active from 9:30 pm until 11:00 pm.

Females, which come in to lights, are usually active from 9:00 until 10:30 pm.
