DISTRIBUTION:

Actias brevijuxta brevijuxta (wingspan approx: 128-160-175?? mm) flies in in the vicinity of N-Luzon; Ifugao Banaue, 20 km N Lagawe in the Philippines.

The forewing tips of the male are quite produced and pointed.

This moth was elevated to full species status by Brechlin & Meister, 2012, from a subspecies of A. selene.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Actias brevijuxta brevijuxta probably broods continuously with the first flight in February, and larvae are polyphagous. Kelly Price sends image below of a male (wingspan: 128mm) taken in August in Mindoro-South Luzon, Philippines.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males which are active from 9:30 pm until 11:00 pm.

Females, which come in to lights, are usually active from 9:00 until 10:30 pm.
