DISTRIBUTION:

Actias selene malaisei (wingspan: mm) flies in Myanmar = Burma. Stefan Naumann indicates (February, 2009) that the moth described and named by Bryk has neither been elevated to full species status nor equated with any other species. Hence, its name still stands.

Records exist for Shan States around 1500m in Myanmar = Burma.

Possibly it also flies in southeastern Tibet (Zizang Province, China) as per the image above.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This subspecies is probably univoltine, with adults on the wing from August to September.

Larvae probably feed on a variety of hostplants.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Males have more falcate wings than females and use highly developed antennae to seek out the females which "call" at night.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS, AND PUPAE:

Larvae are probably similar to those of A. selene selene.

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the possible foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
