DISTRIBUTION:

Loepa microocellata (wingspan mm) flies in
China: Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Fujian, Jianxi, Hubei.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Moths are probably on the wing from June-July (GNNNR).

Cissus, grape and Virginia creeper would likely prove to be suitable hosts.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call at night. Males fly into the wind and track the pheromone plume with their sophisticated antennae.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE: Franz Renner indicates he has reared Loepa microocellata from livestock from the province of South Hubei, Tongshan, Jigongshan, China, 1500m, on Parthenocissus quinquefolia and Parthenocissus tricuspidata. Cocoons, courtesy of Franz and Julian Renner, seem longer than those of other Loepa species.
