DISTRIBUTION:

Loepa nigropupillata flies in the Philippines in North Luzon, Ifugao / Mountain Province, Mt.-Polis-Pass.

This is the only Loepa species known presently with a black "pupil" of the eyespots on all four wings.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

I suspect this species has multiple broods. Theere is at least one flight in August and September. Cissus, grape and Virginia creeper would likely prove to be suitable hosts.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call at night. Males fly into the wind and track the pheromone plume with their sophisticated antennae.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae, typical of Loepa, are dark with lighter triangular patches on the sides
