DISTRIBUTION:

Loepa palawana (wingspan: males: 88-98mm; females: ) flies in
Philippines: Palawan. It is named after the known distribution range.

This moth closesly resembles L. megacore and L. mindanaensis, but differs in colouration from L. megacore and in male genitalia.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

I suspect this species has multiple broods. There is at least one flight in August and September. Cissus, grape and Virginia creeper would likely prove to be suitable hosts.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call at night. Males fly into the wind and track the pheromone plume with their sophisticated antennae.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae, typical of Loepa, are dark with lighter triangular patches on the sides

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
