DISTRIBUTION:

Loepa roseomarginata (wingspan: males: 99-104mm; females) flies in
northern Vietnam: Tonkin, Mt. Fan Si Pan, Sa Pa (= Chapa), at elevations near 1600-1900 m.

The species derives its name from the rosy-pinkish marginal markings of both the fore- and the hindwings.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

I suspect this species has multiple broods. It has been taken in September. Cissus, grape and Virginia creeper would likely prove to be suitable hosts.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call at night. Males fly into the wind and track the pheromone plume with their sophisticated antennae.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
