DISTRIBUTION:

Salassa arianae (wingspan: males: 123 mm; females: probably larger) flies in
China: Shaanxi Province, Tai Bai Shan Mts., Tsinling Mts., Mt. Fopin, 33.45šN, 107.38šE, 1900 m;
Sichuan Province: Lushan County: Quianyuan Village.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This species flies in June-July. There may be additional flight months.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae are covered with spine-bearing warts.

It would appear that cocoons of this species probably hang from trees suspended by a strong silk peduncle.
