DISTRIBUTION:

Solus chongqingana (wingspan: males: 54mm; females: // forewing length: males: 29-32mm; females: ) flies in
China: east of Sichuan: Chongqing: Meng Huan Gu.

The forewing apex is not as produced as in similar species, and the ground colour is a paler yellow and lines are not as bold or in as much contrast as in other similar species.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Specimens have been taken in October at elevations near 1950m. I suspect there may also be a July-August flight??

Larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
