DISTRIBUTION:

Solus sichuanus (forewing length: males: 30-36mm; females: 38-41mm) flies in China: Sichuan: Qingehenghou Mountains, 70 km west of Chengdu (October); Volong Reserve: Siguliang Shan (November-December); Gongga Shan (September-October); at elevations of 1300-3200m.

The species name is indicative of specimen type in Sichuan Province, China.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Specimens have been taken from October to December.

Larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.
