Marc writes, "From Thailand I got wild cocoons of Attacus atlas. But today (October 15, 2009) a male emerged, very different from the rest. Maybe you can see what that is? The colors are much darker, the little window in the upperwing is on the other side of the black line. More white looks to me, and the body is more black."

I indicated this species can be quite variable and there is only one Attacus species (atlas) known from Thailand. To me it is a melanic male atlas.
