I will be visiting my folks in New Jersey for a few days mid to late August so probably won't be answering emails August 12-25 or thereabouts (not sure just when I'm going or returning) and that's why newsletter is coming early for August.

Save your empty cocoons for Carol Neeves. She works with the silk and would like all the empties you can send her. Carol has just set me a write up with pictures to show what she does with the silk (now posted in Members' Articles section).

*********SPECIAL NOTICES*********
Starting soon I will have a special notice board for egg availability on site.
This will be for items (species) that my father and I usually do not offer. It is too time consuming for me to send out individual notices when I receive email from members offering eggs, but there are some interesting species that members sometimes have available and I hate to see you miss out on them. Here is notice that came July 30.

Hey Bill,
Jason here, and I just did some great collecting in southeast Arizona. I've got many female Eacles Oslaris, Automeris Cecrops Pamina, and Sphingicampa Hubbardis depositing ova right now, and I'm going to end up with thousands of eggs. I was wondering if you would be interested in some ova because I've got an abundance of them. Please email me back if you're interested or if you know any people who want some.
Thank you,
Jason
*********ODDITY*********
All of the Hyalophora species are normally univoltine, producing a single brood each year. Jeff Ausmus recently had a pairing of cecropia from eggs deposited this spring. Cocoons emerged without overwintering.
I have had, over the years, several reports of same behaviour. Although rare, it apparently does occur.
I have cynthias emerging now and have had promethea pairings last two afternoons. It will be interesting to see if I have enough time to get them through before cooler weather sets arrives. Last year cynthias emerged around same time and I brought larvae indoors in late August and finished them in large plastic tubs. Sorry, I am done shipping eggs for this season.
