Hi All,
Now is the time to get your orders in for cocoons and pupae. Some species are expected to be in short supply: regalis, angulifera and columbia. I expect to ship in late October.
Canadian and overseas orders should be in by end of September at the latest, before I move stocks to U.S.for shipping to U.S. destinations.
Always confirm before sending payment.
I will be making a trip to the U.S. in mid-late October.

I received an interesting image of a pairing of Callosamia promethea and Samia cynthia. It is my understanding that eggs from this crossing will be fertile. Good luck to Bruce Passarelli as he attempts to rear them. Image posted in the Photography Section.

I continue to incorporate images from Eric van Schayck and expect to have the Automeris files upgraded by mid August. Done!
Kirby Wolfe, Bernhard Wenczel, Rodolphe Rougerie, Thibaud Decaens and Jan Hellert have sent me some additional hosts they have used for rearing members of this genus.

I am very interested in updating foodplant listings for the benefit of all members. If you have had successful eclosions from rearings on unlisted hosts, please advise.

I recently purchased Peigler's and Naumann's A Revision of the Silkmoth genus Samia from Adam Fleischman. I have used the info to upgrade classifications, flight seasons, foodplants and confirm image identifications. I have also recently posted many new images from Eric van Schayck to the Samia section.
The book is extremely well researched with much historical information and contains very detailed species descriptions.
I am also very thankful for the great help Ulrich Paukstadt has been with this section.

I will shortly be receiving Darge's Saturniidae II for Africa from Erich Bauer.

For those of you interested in Arctiidae, I received this email July 31:
"Respected Sir,
"Let me introduce first, I am a research fellow working on a project Taxonomy Capacity Building at Zoological Survey of India, Kerala, Calicut, under the guidance of venerable C. Radhakrishnan, Joint-Director and Senior Scientist of this regional station. Along with the project I would like to take Ph.D on moths (Arctiidae family). While searching net I found your mail id, that allows young researchers to come in contact with similar veteran persons who works on same group. If you don't mind could you please introduce me to other scientists of same specialisation. I would be grateful to you if you get me the emails of such persons."
Thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
Abhilash Peter

Sphingidae Express
Jim Tuttle sent me a correction for the Proserpinus vega page. The image previously displayed as vega was in fact terlooii. A correct image of vega, courtesy of Bruce Walsh, is now on display.
Visit Eumorpha typhon page to see new image courtesy of Steve Huffman.

I am very much interested in Catocalas. They will be flying now (til late October) in the eastern states. This is a very interesting and beautiful genus to attract via lights or bait.
Dave Wikle has sent me some updates from the west, and I have recently received some nice images from Tim Dyson of Ontario. Tim is using some red wine in his bait and has sent me a very nice image of a "contented" Catocala "fan", which either likes the aroma of the wine or the wing whirr. See image in Catocala ultronia file.
