Wavy lines and alternating light and dark colours provide considerable camouflage on tree bark.
Brahmaea (Bramophthalma) wallichii insulata flies in Taiwan. Moths are probably on the wing in April to May as a single brood, but I have no information confirming or disputing that.
Larvae probably feed on Lilac (Syringa) and Privet (Ligustrum).
Mature larvae descend host foliage to pupate underground or under surface litter. Pupae can be stored at just above freezing during the winter months.
Brahmaea insulata male from Taiwan.
