Citheronia volcan male
Citheronia volcan female
| Chiriqui: Boquete. Note heavy red coating on forewing veins; smaller orangey-yellow cell marking.

Citheronia lobesis lobesis male
Citheronia lobesis lobesis female

Eacles
Eacles imperialis anchicayensis male
Eacles imperialis anchicayensis fem.
| Male (left) from Barro Colorado Island, Panama. Perhaps it
is E. i. anchicayensis, known from western Colombia & western Ecuador, It could be present in Panama. It might be Eacles i. decoris
or Eacles i. cacicus. Lemaire did not list any Eacles imperialis subspecies from Panama. Cacicus larvae seem to be much more hairy than
either anchicayensis or decoris.
Eacles imperialis decoris male
Eacles imperialis decoris female
| Male (left) is Nicaraguan; it should be Eacles imperialis decoris. Fw apex seems more rounded, and outer
margin less concave compared to image from Panama. Both subspecies, decoris & anchicayensis, probably display enough variability that one could pass for
the other. Another subspecies, listed by Lemaire as E. i. cacicus ranges from Venezuela to eastern Brazil. It might be present in Panama.

E. m. centralamericana female

1/2 of wing.If hindwings are visible, note small lilac intraneural bars along outer margin.
Eacles penelope male
Eacles penelope female

Schausiella
Schausiella denhezorum male
Schausiella denhezorum female
| Bocas del Toro. Strong, contrasting black pm line is broadly preapical.
The male fw apex is pointed and the forewing outer margin is slightly concave.
Schausiella moinieri male
Schausiella moinieri female
| Chiriqui; montane species.
In the male, the pm line is not distinct, but more concolourous with surrounding areas. The outer margin is slghtly convex.
The female is quite similar to the denhezorum female, but perhaps the pm line is slightly straighter in moinieri with a more distinct inturn at the costa.
Schausiella subochreata male
Schausiella subochreata female
| Canal Zone. Forewing ground colour is almost a uniform dull brown with the pm line scarcely visible.
There is a light pinkish suffusion in the outer portion of the upper median area. The cell marking is very weak, only slightly more orange than surrounding area.
