February 15 to March 16, 2018

Hi All,

The days are getting noticeably longer here on PEI, and I will begin taking livestock out of cold storage around Mother's Day.

I will begin taking egg orders in early March as some species will be flying in the southern states in March.

If you wish to place an order, please always provide the following with your enquiry:
1) complete name and shipping address;
2) species and quantities desired; eggs are almost always sold by the dozen, and I will soon be posting prices on this page;
3) your preferred payment method; personal check works fine for me, but payments need to be sent in advance of shipment; Paypal also works fine, but if you are in the US, I need to initiate the request for funds in US dollars from here, and you need to have those funds in your Paypal account before you approve the request. With Paypal there is a 5% Paypal transaction fee. I need the email address associated with your Paypal account to initiate the payment from here, so please be sure to indicate that when you place an order;
4) please indicate also when you would be ready to begin receiving eggs. I do not want to send them or notifiy you they are available before you are ready to receive them.

Should you change your mind about ordering eggs after you have already sent me a request, please notify me that you no longer want eggs.

Quite often during the summer months we have non-diapausing Actias luna and Antheraea polyphemus cocoons from the more southerly states. We also often have pupae of Heraclides cresphontes, the giant swallowtail, for shiping during the summer.

I also intend to purchase large quantities of cocoons and pupae of local (North American) Saturniidae and possibly Sphingidae in the fall. If you would like to become a supplier of fall livestock, please send me an email.

I hope to have a price list for Canadian customers available soon. I should also be able to provide some eggs of local PEI species to overseas customers, and also hope to be able to post that pricelist soon.

"Just for the hell of it, I brought in one luna cocoon to record how long it would take to eclose indoors and just to have something to take pictures of mid winter, Just under 4 weeks at 20 c."

Thanks, Steve. Really nice to see something green this time of year!

Donations are not required to maintain your standing as a WLSS member, nor do they gain you any preferencial treatment with regard to livestock and/or supplies (sleeves), compared to other WLSS members. All WLSS members get first crack at my annual offerings and get an approximate discount of 10% as compared to non-members.

I do usually ask donors if they have any special requests for information on WLSS, and I try to accomodate when appropriate or within my ability to do so.
