Shane Bender advised me of several nice Saturniidae images on a Blog about accomodations at and excursions from Mount Totumas Cloud Forest farm, Chiriqui, Panama, operated by two brothers, Jeffrey and Michael Dietrich.
Jeffrey Dietrich writes, December 6, 2010, Mount Totumas Cloud Forest would be a great site for visitors interested in lepidoptera of the highlands of Central America. We are off the grid, and there are no lights anywhere in the valley, and our property borders La Amistad National Park. We have a hydro generator that powers the bug lights and the house, and, on warm, windless overcast nights it is absolutely overwhelming what we attract here. If you know any entomological groups that organize tours please send them a link to our place. They won't be disappointed. Having said that, the best time to visit is from April through August which is still nice weather but more overcast. December through March have clear nights with wind, and not as many insects appear during those months."
I have thus far received images of Rhescyntis hippodamia norax, Antheraea godmani, Rothschildia orizaba orizaba, Rothschildia triloba, Automeris belti belti, Automeris metzli, Dirphia avia, Lonomia electra, Paradirphia semirosea and what I am pretty sure are Copaxa syntheratoides.
