Hi All,
I had a nice visit to New Jersey in mid August and watched my father work with his Citheronia regalis as well as several other species. It was very hot down there. He now has them (regalis) pupated and ready for sale.
You can order many species from my father over the phone: 908-439-2462. Please note the 10% membership discount does not apply to stocks ordered from my father except for the luna and polyphemus which I can send from here. My cynthias are just starting to cocoon.

In Canada and overseas, order through me via email. In U.S. order from my father by phone. I expect stocks to be gone by end of November and some numbers are low so order early.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I had a good rearing year with regard to luna and polyphemus, but my cecropia and columbia were a complete disaster, with almost all of them dying in fourth and fifth instar, probably from a virus, lost hundreds.
Sphingidae were also dismal. We had a hard frost in early June, and that coupled with cool wet spring seemed to set everything back and probably set stage for problems with Hyalophora species.
I do have some pupae of Dryocampa rubricunda (captured females at lights) and Anisota virginiensis (reared/overwintered stock from last year paired with wild males), but these species are not for sale. Hope to have a good crop of them next year, but I especially want to see how the rubricunda overwinter.

********NEWSLETTERS:***********
The Mothly Newsletter (not a typo) will be sent out monthly via email.
If you do not wish to receive the newsletter, let me know and I will remove your name from the newsletter mailing list. Same applies to "Sphinx Express" for the fast-fliers' enthusiasts.
*********THREE SPECIAL REQUESTS*********
Save your empty cocoons for Carol Neeves. She works with the silk and would like all the empties you can send her. Carol has just set me a write up with pictures to show what she does with the silk (now posted in Members' Articles section).
Neeves, Carol, 1609 Ponderosa Drive, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57103 CANeeves@aol.com
Another new member is also interested in empties as she wishes to make rattles as per those utilized by indigenous peoples of American Southwest.
++++++++++++CATOCALA WEBSITE++++++++++++++
I am preparing a website on the Catocala (underwing moths) of North America. If you can collect at lights (now into late September is best time) and send me specimens or images, I would love to have them for display on the Catocala site. It will be a free site and I will advise all when files are posted, hopefully end of October. Site is in progress but you can visit at
http://www.silkmoths.bizland.com/catocala.html
Very happy that I was able to obtain eggs of concumbens and relicta from females collected at lights so hope to expand in this area in the future.
*********KIRBY WOLFE*********
Kirby has sent another set of beautiful images for September. Check them out if you haven't already done so.
*********SPECIAL NOTICES*********
Starting soon (spring 2003) I will have a special notice board for egg availability on site.
This will be for items (species) that my father and I usually do not offer. It is too time consuming for me to send out individual notices when I receive email from members offering eggs, but there are some interesting species that members sometimes have available and I hate to see you miss out on them. I will begin posting in spring if you advise me by email of availability.
*********UPDATES****************
Teemu Klemetti has just sent me images of Attacus inopinatus and Samia peigleri, two species not previously depicted on the site. The files and images have been posted. Many thanks to Teemu and all others who contribute with images and information.
+++++++++Cocoons Wanted++++++++++++
Both my father and I are interested in purchasing large quantities of io and cecropia cocoons for redistribution due to "crop" failures. Everything else seems to be in good order although angulifera and zephyria stocks are limited.
New Article: I am nearly finished with an article on pupation techniques for the earth pupators. Might finish and upload tonight or very soon.
