Adeloneivaia jason Series: Females: Recto

Here are recto images of female Adeloneivaia jason specimens from Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Adeloneivaia jason females are relativley large with most specimens in 110-115mm wingspan range, but specimens as small as 81mm and as large as 123mm have been reported. This species can be found in both rain and cloud forests, usually at elevations from 400-1600m.

The forewing ground colour is uniform orange. The straight forewing am and pm lines are dark and prominent with the pm slightly preapical, running obliquely to the approximate middle of the inner margin. The am line tends to open from the inner margin at slightly more than ninety degress toward the costa. The cell marking is a tiny white dot, often scarcely visible. The forewing is slightly apically produced and wing veins are accentuated especially in the post median area.

The hindwing has a preapical, thin, reddish band that runs obliquely from the costa, below the cell, to the inner margin. There are reddish hairs and scaling, predominently along the inner margin, in the basal and median areas.
