A "?" indicates that I (William Oehlke) expect this moth might be present, but I have no confirmed reports. An "a" indicates presence is confirmed in work of Alexandre Specte et. al. publication. A (*) indicates a presence confirmed in Claude Lemaire's works.

This website is designed and maintained by Bill Oehlke. If you have additions, corrections, data, images, etc., please send to Bill Oehlke.

Many thanks to all those who have contributed images and/or information. I look forward to additional documentation in the years to come. Hopefully many people in Rio Grande do Sul will carefully photograph mature larvae they encounter in the wild and will rear the larvae through to adulthood, giving us a link to the species and its larvae. Many of the larvae of Saturniidae from Rio Grande do Sul are still unknown.

Many thanks to Emily Betania Sloczynski Jerke who provides the following two images of Rothschildia arethusa from Ajuricaba, Rio Grande do Sul. Although arethusa was expected in RS, this may be the first documentation in that state.
