Neohomoeopteryx belong to the Subfamily Oxyteninae (Oxytenidae) of the Family Saturniidae.

Some taxonomists consider Oxytenidae to be a separate Family, distinguished from the Saturniidae due to different wing venation and larval morphology and behaviour.

These small to medium sized moths fly in Central and South America.

Mature larvae descend trees to pupate in subterranean chambers.

P indicates an image is available. The first country listed is the specimen type locality.

Listing of Neohomoeopteryx

N malecena malecena (Druce, 1886) Panama, moved from Homoeopteryx to Neohomoeopteryx
N malecena prona Jordan, 1924 Trinidad, ??French Guuiana (FB), moved from Homoeopteryx to Neohomoeopteryx.

I think the subspecies prona is now placed in synonymity with the nominate species, indicating a range in Panama, Trinidad and French Guiana.
