PTILOSCOLA MICHENER, 1949

The Ptiloscola belong to the Subfamily Ceratocampinae of the Family Saturniidae. Moths fly in Central America into northern South America. Note the yellow rings on the abdomen of the specimen above. These rings are a character of this genus.

Larvae are equipped with extensive and elongated thoracic scoli, particularly in the early instars.

Pupation is in loose surface litter or a shallow subterranean chamber.
