DISTRIBUTION:

Ancistrota plagia (wingspan: males: 49-53mm; females: 52mm) (forewing length: males: 22-29mm; females: 29mm) flies in
Surinam: Paramaribo;
northeastern Venezuela Monagas;
French Guiana: Camopi, Cayenne, Regina, Piste Coralie, Saul;
Guyana (?) and
northern Brazil: Amapa.

It seems that colour can vary from light yellow to brown.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Ancistrota plagia moths are on the wing in February, May, September and November. Larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the posterior tip of the abdomen to call in night-flying males.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS, AND PUPAE:

Typical of the Hemileucini, larvae have urticating spines.
