DISTRIBUTION:
Adelowalkeria plateada
(wingspan: males: 55-75mm; females: 97mm) flies in
Guyana: Omai;
Colombia: Caqueta and probably Amazonas
and Putamayo;
Ecuador: Napo and probably Sucumbios, probably witti;
Venezuela: Bolivar, Amazonas;
French Guiana: Saint-Jean-du-Maroni, Saul, Kaw;
Brazil: Para, Amazonas, Mato Grosso; and probably
Suriname.
Racheli and Racheli (2005) report it from Peru:
Amazonas. That is , probably witti.

The wavy/undulate postmedian line in the male forewing distinguishes
this species.
There are often black dots in the median area.
FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
There are
possibly two-three broods of Adelowalkeria plateada annually
in June, August and December.
Larval hosts are unknown.
ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:
Females probably call from 10:30 pm until 12:30 am and then make their
ovipositing flights from 10:30 pm until 2:00 am over the next
several nights.
EGGS, LARVAE AND PUPAE:
Larvae descend tree trunks at maturity to dig subterranean chambers in
which to pupate.
Larval Food Plants
It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common
name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive.
Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
