French Guiana: Roura, Kaw, Cayenne, Regina, Belizon;
French Guiana: Road to Kaw, km. 38, collected by P. Kindl, 1992-03-15;
Guyana: East Demerara-West Coast Berbice;
Venezuela: Bolivar;
Venezuela: Bolivar: Road from El Dorado to Sta Elena, km. 118, collected by P. Bleuzen, 1990-11-20;
Brazil: Para, Amazonas, Ceara? (SB), Mato Grosso (WO?/BF), Minas Gerais (LV), Parana (CM), Sao Paulo;
Brazil: Sao Paulo: Sao Carlos, -22.024, -47.893, collected by M.M. Dias Filho, 1985-02-07;
Paraguay: Caaguazu CL, Concepcion pybio, and (possibly San Pedro WO); and
probably Suriname. Eurides Furtado reports it from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The following specimen is identified on internet as C. speciosa from Concepcion Department, Paraguay, but I think it is more likely Cerodirphia apunctata, based on location and very obtuse angle to the "y".

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth probably broods continuously. February-March, November-December flights have been confirmed.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Males use highly developed antennae to locate females at night by tracking their airbourne pheromone plumes.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larve feed gregariously and have urticating spines.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.

Here are two Cerodirphia larvae which may be of the same species, most likely Cerodirphia apunctata, but I am not at all certain as to species.
