DISTRIBUTION:

Cerodirphia chrisbrechlinae (wingspan: males: 81mm; females: 101mm // Mfwl: 33-40mm; Ffwl: 44-50mm) flies in
Brazil: Bahia.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Specimens have been recorded on the wing in April at elevations of 150-750m. There may be additional flight months.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Males use highly developed antennae to locate females at night by tracking their airbourne pheromone plumes.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larve feed gregariously and have urticating spines.

The species name, chrisbrechlinae, is honourific for Dr. Christiane Brechlin, mother of Ron Brechlin.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
