Cerodirphia fuscarpishiana male, Huanuco, Peru,
on my home computer only.
TAXONOMY:Superfamily: Bombycoidea, Latreille, 1802 |
"Someone to Watch Over Me" |
Males are an almost uniform dark brown with a forewing outer margin that is almost straight, being slightly inwardly rounded at the apex and anal angle. Fringes are dark brown and are slightly produced at hindwing veins, giving the hindwing outer margin a somewhat scalloped appearance. The hindwing basal-median area is significantly lighter in colour with an orangey-yellowish tint to its light brown.
The species name, fuscarpishiana, is indicative of a dark fuscus brown species with a specimen type locale in the Carpish Pass area of Huanuco, Peru.
It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
