DISTRIBUTION:

Citioica guayensis (approximate wingspan: males: 62-73(AC)mm; females: 80-101(AC)mm // forewing length: males: 30-32mm; females: 40mm) flies in
French Guiana: Cayenne; Kaw; St-Jean du Maroni; Cacao (AC) and
northern Brazil: probably Para; at elevations of 80m-290m.

The paler ground colour seems much more even (lacking dark scaling in forewing post median area) in this species, compared to the more contrasting lighter and darker shades found in C. anthonilis.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Moths are on the wing in February, August and November, suggesting three broods annually. Citioica guayensis larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE AND PUPAE:

The following larval images were both assigned to Citioica anthonilis, but I believe they are from stock originating in French Guiana and are more likely Citioica guayensis larvae.

Larvae show considerably difference from larvae (probably anthonilis) from Mexico from Kirby Wolfe and Leroy Simon.

The species name, guayensis, is indicative of a specimen type location in French Guiana.

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the anticipated foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
