DISTRIBUTION:

Neohomoeopteryx malecena prona, formerly Homoeopteryx flies in
Trinidad
and French Guiana (FB).

In some taxonomies, the Oxyteninae are treated as a subfamily of Oxytenidae rather than as a subfamily of Saturniidae.

I am not sure but I think subspecies prona is now regarded as a synonym of the nominate species, and malecena is significantly different from other Homoeopteryx species to warrant a genus (Neohomoeopteryx) of its own. I also think malecena was originally described as an Oxytenis species from Panama.
