DISTRIBUTION:
 Prohylesia bahiana  (wingspan: males: 37mm; females: 48mm // fwl: males: females:   flies in
Brazil: Bahia: Camacan and Mun. Maura; at elevations of 150-750m.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
 Moths are on the wing in February, April, September-October, December. There are probably additional 
flight months. 
Larval hosts are unknown.
ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:
Females extend a scent gland from the tip of the abdomen to call in the night-flying males.
Most male activity occurs from 10:00 pm until shortly after midnight.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:
Prohylesia bahiana larvae are similar to Automeris larvae, being gregarious and having urticating spines.
The species name bahiana is indicative of a specimen type location from the Bahia, Brazil.
