Amambay Department, Paraguay

I have very little in the way of confirmed records for Amambay Department. The checklists below are highly speculative and may include species not present and probably omit some species that are present. The lists have been assembled based on what I feel are good reports for Concepcion Department to the west and Canindeyu Department to the south.

Amambay, however, has a more mountainous topography, and lower altitude species may not be present. It would probably be wise to check the Mato Grosso, Brazil, checklists if you encounter something that does not seem to be included below.

It is also my understanding that Amambay Department is not easily accessible, and it may not be a safe place to be out at night with a generator (2007).

Sergio Rios (SR) adds and/or confirms a number of species from La Nina, February 18, 2002.

Those species followed by UD? indicate status is unclear.
