Alejandro Borquez

Alejandro Borquez has granted permission for me to post his beautiful images of live Saturniidae adults and larvae from his rearings in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He travels and collects extensively, and rears when he can obtain eggs. Foodplants, previously unknown, are now discovered by experimentation.

Alejandro may or may not be offering livestock or dead specimens. He can be reached via email to Alejandro Borquez for a complete price list, or to at least get on his mailing list. I believe he is very legitimate, but as with all new contacts, my advice is to proceed slowly at first. Please mention WLSS and or my name (Bill Oehlke) if you are contacting Alejandro from this page. Also please advise me if you encounter any problems.

His digital images are not to be used elsewhere without his consent.

It is interesting that the ex ovum specimen, courtesy of Alejandro Borquez, shows orangey-pink scales encircling the black cell marking of the female's hindwing. Specimens from other areas do not seem to have the same ring. Perhaps those scales are quickly lost in flight?
