Michael writes, "Found this as a molting third instar larva on one of my Grape Vines in the yard a month or so ago. Assumed it was D. myron, since that is perhaps my most common species at light here in Grey Forest. All of the previous larvae found on grape have been parasitized, so I wasn't hopeful of getting this one through. Kept looking at the larva and later the pupa as being odd-looking. So, when this Enyo lugubris emerged this morning (October 20, 2007), I was a little surprised. Have never seen this species at light locally, but clearly it is a resident."

I (Bill Oehlke) do not know if this species can overwinter in central Texas, but Michael's larva find certainly indicates at least a summer-fall brood in Bexar County.
