Wallace writes July 20, "I thought you might like to see a "new" Texas panhandle "horned worm" feeding on a Thompson seedless grape. (no relation) submitted by Wallace and GayAnn Thompson "

It is "new" in the sense that it is different from the images of other species sent to me by Wallace in the previous year. This one appears to be on the way to the ground where it will seek some soft earth in which to excavate a subterranean chamber in which to pupate. This species is fairly widespread across most of the United States.
