Alex sent me these beautiful images of a Sphecodina abbottii larva and writes, "Found this 4th instar Abbott's Sphinx caterpillar in North Olmsted, Cuyahoga, OH on July 14, 2009; two days later, it shed its skin and eventually faded to the brown form. Butterflies and Moths of North America do not show a record of the Abbott's Sphinx in Cuyahoga, should it be reported?"

Alex gave me permission to post his images. I indicated it would be appropriate for him to conact State and provincial coordinators of Butterflies and Moths of North America (formerly USGS website) and report the sighting. Usually images are required so the coordinator can confirm the sighting. There should be no problem with this one.

Please report sightings and send high quality jpg images to Bill Oehlke to help build a website useful to many people. I work independently of the Butterflies and Moths of North America website, but recognize it as a great resource.
